I have a fundamental interest in open infrastructure, especially with regard to digital sovereignty.
Current project: Building a self-managed, private 5G stand alone campus network with integration into existing infrastructure under OpenStack and new edge cloud with StarlingX and a sub-project also Magma for wireless networks (5G and WiFi6).
I'm involved in computer science since the mid 80s. Beginning from the late 1990s I've traveld around Europe as an IT consultant and I worked for DAX30-companies through all branches.
I have been a research assistant at Osnabrück University since 2011 and work with students of industrial engineering, business informatics and business administration. Applied sciences and research in the area of industrial production from an IT perspective have been the focus of my work for many years. Since 2016, my focus has been on OpenStack, and since 2022 (until 2027) I have also been working on a 5G campus network research project. The project aims to build and operate a private and self-managed 5G network. The Sovereign Cloud Stack serves as an edge cloud with OpenStack as the IAS layer within it.
About me: I'm mid 50 years old, located in Meppen, Germany. I'm married and we've got two children. I studied business informatics during the mid 1990s in Dresden, Germany. Out of my office I volunteer as a coach in rowing and handball sports.
