Health/status monitoring and metrics processing/visualization at cloud-scale present significant new challenges for public and private clouds. Monasca is a multi-tenant, highly scalable, performant, fault-tolerant, monitoring-as-a-service solution for OpenStack that supports storing and querying metrics, alarming/thresholding, and notifications. Attendees will download and use Monasca on their own laptops via our Vagrant or Devstack development environment and learn how to monitor the included DevStack VM.
Attendees should expect to not only learn about the overall architecture of the project but also get the opportunity to work with each component of Monasca and configure it to monitor the development environment they will be working on. They will be exposed to the Monasca API, the Monasca Python Client, the Monasca Agent and the Monasca dashboard in the Horizon UI. They will walk away with the basic knowledge of how to configure, deploy and use Monasca.
