We’ve been hearing a lot about the use of Network Function Virtualization (NFV) for delivering virtual network functions in a cloud. We take you through all the lessons learned on choosing the right hardware layout and supported featured related to performance and stability with regards to OpenStack and Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK). We’ll talk through the advantages of DPDK, Non Uniform Memory Access (NUMA), and Hugepages, some of the lessons learned and the next steps leveraging DPDK 2.2 and OVS 2.5 to allow jumbo frames and multicast. We'll also cover the mechanism on how to use the same environment for IOT workloads when it comes to high density VMs per compute node.
Attendees will walk away from this session with solid knowledge of what hardware should be used and in what way for a high performance OpenStack cloud.
