Can't Sleep, Clouds Will Eat Me: 4 Perspectives on Supporting OpenStack Deployments

Supporting OpenStack public and private clouds can be extremely difficult expecially when you must manage many diferent deployments.  Four Rackspace support engineers will present on four different topics:

  • Traditional linux support vs. OpenStack support
  • What are the diffences between public cloud and private cloud support
  • Why so many escalations?  How we improve after things blow up
  • Architecture, ow do we provide for customer specific needs

What can I expect to learn?

We hope to bring an operators perspective to attendees, our unique experiences with Linux, Virtualization, Devoplement, and Architecture will provide insight to those beginning to work with Openstack as well as those who already work with the product on a daily basis. Due to our Work on many different private clouds from deployments as small as 5 nodes up to 500, each deployment represents unique challenges. We plan to provide some of the insight that we have learned.

Good content, and presentation. I came away with a ton of notes that will help a lot with the Cloud NOC we're currently building!

Great to hear from ppl who've 'been there done that'. Given level of expertise the first two talks were perhaps a little to high-level/lack of specific actionable stuff (#3 was spot on for that); #4 (architectural part) had the good mix IMHO
