Designate: Interactive Workshop - Install and Operate, Hands-On Lab

RSVP required.

In this interactive workshop, the Designate team will walk attendees through the installation and configuration of Designate on a virtual machine.

Attendees will leave with an understanding of the various components of Designate and with a working single-VM install on their laptops.

Attendees will learn:

  • Designate Architecture 101
  • How to Install and Configure Designate
  • How to set up the newly merged Nova and Neutron Integration
  • - Assigning domains to neutron networks
  • - Reverse DNS
  • - Assigning dns_names to neutron ports and floating IPs
  • How to perform day to day Designate operations tasks
  • End user usage of the API, CLI and Horizon UI
  • Advanced API functionality
  • Tips and Tricks for using Designate
  • Contributing to Designate 101

What can I expect to learn?

We intend to show admins how to install Designate, and hook up some of the more advanced integrations like reverse DNS, and auto provisioning of DNS records based on Nova and Neutron configuration.

We also let attendees leave with a fully working Devstack VM containing Nova, Neutron and Designate

Miguel Lavalle is a core team member of the Openstack Neutron project and has been the PTL during the Queens, Rocky, Stein and Train cycles.
