This paper is about Wipro’s journey of creating a community of Open Source enthusiasts across its divisions. Our vision of having 10,000 open source developers across the length and breadth of technologies and is becoming real by following a community based competency development approach. We call this our “inner sourcing expedition”.
We have enabled the employees to collaborate and learn thru doing using community projects within our organization. The paper would talk about the vision, challenges we faced and our solution and current status of our internal open source community. Our solution addresses behavior change, technology enablement and a gamified reward framework.
Currently we have around 10,000 employees who are part of the opensource community within Wipro and learning and growing together and creating solutions. We would like to share our learning and encourage other enterprises to take an inner sourcing journey and gain benefits.
