A Deep Dive into Project Astara

Project Astara provides an open source network orchestration platform and is one of the latest members of the OpenStack Big Tent.  In this session, we'll dive into Astara's architecture to explore how the OpenStack ecosystem shaped Astara into a scalable solution.  After of tour of Astara's internals, we will examine how Astara's intergration with Neutron and the other OpenStack services helps to deploy a 100% open source production ready system compatible with a number of open source L2 providers.  We will close with a look at Astara's newest feature, over-the-top orchestration of L3+ services.  Over-the-top services are configured using a standard Neutron installation and enable operators to support a pluggable network service infrastructure allowing users to bring their own network functions to OpenStack.

What can I expect to learn?

The attendees will learn in the internal architecture of Astara and how Astara integrates with Neutron by providing backing implementations for Neutron's API.  Knowledge of Astara's architecture will also inform the decisions made by operators when deploying OpenStack.
