A Pioneer's Vision of Networking

In this session, Guido Appenzeller---a founding member and pioneer of the revolution to virtualize the network---will share his vision on how networking is moving up the stack, and will discuss the role of OpenStack in this new age. The growing importance of public clouds, mobile devices, and multi-cloud strategies means that networking today is not about hardware but instead is about logical endpoints. The hard part is managing connectivity, compliance, and security in a scalable, policy-driven fashion. Come listen to this pioneer's vision of the future of networking and how that will impact OpenStack.

What can I expect to learn?

Attendees can expect to learn more about the current state of networking and network virtualization, how network virtualization can (and should) expand to encompass public cloud workloads and mobile devices, and how managing policy---whether it's policy for connectivity or policy for security---is now one of the most critical emerging needs for today's organizations.
