Optimizing Software-Defined Storage for OpenStack

Engineered systems have been met with tremendous market success supporting legacy applications and workloads because build your own hasn’t worked. Why don’t we have similar solutions for new modern cloud applications and workloads? Rolling your own open source solution won’t be for everyone. Likewise, other organizations are looking to integrate OpenStack to existing systems with a sunk cost. Roll your own, pre-packaged distributions, or turnkey appliance – why do folks choose one option instead or another? Why not focus on application development, and leave the infrastructure to someone else? Let's look at use cases and provide some handy tools for your own evaluation.

What can I expect to learn?

We will take a deep-dive look architectural look at ScaleIO as a standalone software product, an integrated appliance, and as an integrated software option in OpenStackDistributions and discuss how our partnership with Mirantis facilitates these options.
