Donnie Berkholz is the Research Director for the Development, DevOps, & IT Ops channel at 451 Research, which covers the technologies employed for software development and software lifecycle management to drive business growth. Donnie's own coverage encompasses development, testing and release engineering. This includes areas such as programming languages & tooling, source-code management, application lifecycle management, and continuous integration & delivery.
Prior to joining 451 Research, Donnie covered trends in software development, data science and DevOps at RedMonk, with a particular focus on data-driven approaches to industry analysis. In that role, he worked closely with both vendors and end users to understand and advise on leading-edge adoption. He previously served as a Research Fellow at the Mayo Clinic and a writer for LWN.net, and he has spent more than a decade as an open-source developer on Gentoo Linux and other projects.
Donnie holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Biophysics from Oregon State University. He received a BS in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and a BA in Chemistry, with a Journalism minor, from the University of Richmond. He has also studied at the University of Minnesota and Gustavus Adolphus College.
