Overview of AT&T’s Cloud Workloads: Before, and After OpenStack

Have you ever wondered about the different types of cloud workloads, and service integration use-cases a typical large operator manages on daily basis?

Join us for this session as we walk through a diverse set of workloads, application and service delivery patterns that are powered by our OpenStack cloud platform.

Running all your workloads on a common unifying platform is a great vision to pursue. However, in a complex multi-vendor multi-solution landscape that a large operator deals with regularly, the key to executing this vision becomes technology integration. We'll cover:

  • The process to deploy new services going from 2-3 weeks of time line, down to minutes with the help of cloud platform and other tools.
  • For a telco provider, a legacy way of launching a new service would have involved commandeering multiple disjoint technology blocks with significant lead time. Whereas now, with the help of Gluon, Yardstick and OPNFV platform this becomes simple, predictable agile process.

What can I expect to learn?
  • Attendees will Learn and gain insight about AT&T's diverse workloads
  • We'll talk about some of the application level needs and challenges that drive our teams to design innovative solutions on top of OpenStack.
  • We will cover the practical design and integration challenges that any OpenStack adopter (telco, and otherwise) would have to address in order to derive benefit out of newer technologies like Gluon, Yardstick and OPNFV’s integration with OpenStack.
  • The limitations of legacy way of running our traditional workloads, compared to newer workloads, and their modern deployment techniques.
  • How AT&T’s OpenStack cloud is becoming a prominent enabler to achieve NFV integration and number of other innovations happening on top of it.
