Magnum: Lifecycle Operations, Cluster Maintenance, and Trust
Magnum clusters must be acted upon to transition them through various lifecycle states. In this session we will discuss the current cluster lifecycle, and what we would like to add to support the needs of cloud operators offering Container Orchestration Engines (COEs) as part of their hosted cloud services. For example, we plan to have new lifecycle operations for: REBOOT, RESTART, COE_NODE_DRAIN, UPGRADE, and REBUILD. One key decision to make here is how best to allow secure interaction between COEs and OpenStack APIs. We will not discuss the implementation details of cluster upgrades, which will be addressed in a separate session - Magnum: Cluster Upgrades.
