Monasca: Work session
Monasca metrics database discussion.

Currently, Monasca supports both Vertica and InfluxDB for storing metrics and alarm history. Vertica is a proprietary database from HPE that excels at storing and querying time-series data and analytics. InfluxDB is a time-series database that used to be completely open-source, but has gone partially closed source and proprietary. Open-source InfluxDB is only supported for single node deployment. Clustering is proprietary and costs money.

The Monasca team had started to look at alternative databases, such as Cassandra. This discussion is to give an update on Cassandra as well as discuss/plan next steps.
