Companies moving to provide cloud services for their lines of business are faced with a growing number of technology choices ranging from the choice of cloud computing platforms to application deployment based on virtual machines or containers and microservices. The speed at which the industry is advancing makes it difficult to distinguish between the hype and the reality of many of the new technology choices, which may often appear to be at odds with each other.
Fortunately, the OpenStack community is where we can explore new models and share our experiences of what works and what does not. Based on the work being done at Cisco and SAP, this talk will address how containerization of OpenStack services using Docker, Ansible, Kolla, and Kubernetes makes it easier for a small team to bring consistency and management to OpenStack services for both service providers and enterprise data centers.
