Examining Different Ways to Get Involved: A Look at OpenSource

The technology industry has come to the point that OpenSource is a household term. While less intimidating, becoming more involved in the community can be a daunting task. Join OpenSouce industry leaders Alicia Abella (AT&T) and Rob Wilmoth (Red Hat) to find out how they got their start with Open Source, as well as gather a few recommendations on how to begin getting more involved within the communities that impact your own industry. We'll take a brief look at the history, how the communities have evolved, and the stages that communities can exist in so that you know where impacts stand to be made, and how to best align yourself and your teams of engineers to help drive projects to new heights.

What can I expect to learn?

Those in attendance will leave with a better understanding of the vairous ways that both technical and non-techincal individuals can influence and become more involved in the Open Source communities impacting their industries. They will also garner an introduction to the various levels, users groups, and standards bodies impacting a few example organizations today, and how this involvement has helped the overall direction of these industries.
