OpenStack is a mature project widely adopted by organizations. After enough buzz and momentum, Containers have also matured.
Both Containers and OpenStack have got their place in production. OpenStack community has always taken keen interest in supporting Containers within OpenStack.
OpenStack has tried multiple ways to add support for Containers but none has proved to be solving the issue so far. So Zun is new project trying to bridge the gap between Containers and OpenStack by making Container available as a first class resource in OpenStack. Zun aims to closely integrate with both container tools and container orchestration engines(COE).
This talk will try to explain how Zun is trying to support containers the same way as VM and baremetals are supported today in OpenStack and will also explain the Zun’s focus and roadmap.
- The state of containers in OpenStack at present.
- Discuss about the container related projects available in OpenStack today in brief.
- Making containers as first class resource as VM and Baremetal supported by Nova and Ironic respectively.
- Integration with various other OpenStack projects like Keystone, Glance, Cinder, Nova, Kuryr.
- Provide the best of both Container and OpenStack world.
