Performance and Scale Analysis of OpenStack Using Browbeat

Browbeat is an Open Source framework focused on performance and scale testing of a deployed OpenStack cloud.  It can provide the following benefits to operators, developers and businesses running OpenStack.

  • Orchestrate workloads for performance and scale testing.
  • Make run-to-run, cloud-to-cloud and build-to-build comparisons by sending test results bundled with metadata about the cloud to Elasticsearch and visualized via Kibana.
  • Automate deployment of common collection and data analysis tools.
  • Provide performance data and metrics in common tools like Grafana and Kibana

In this talk you will hear an overvierw of Browbeat and Performance results from Browbeat.  Based on the performance work over the last cycle and previous cycles, we will share best practices for performance and scale of OpenStack. We will also share how our workflow of Test->Analyze->Tune using Browbeat can help you get the most out of your cloud.

What can I expect to learn?

Attendees should be able to learn what Browbeat is and what it does from a high level. Performance and scale results covering a variety of OpenStack services like Nova, Neutron, Telemetry, Keystone etc obtained from Browbeat will be discussed. Based on these results some best practices for optimum performance and maximum scale of your cloud will be shared. This session is going to help anyone who wants to get the most of their existing OpenStack cloud.
