Since 2020, I'm leading the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS) initiative, delivering a complete, modular, fully open source, federated, standardized cloud operating system -- bare metal, VMs, container orchestration along with automation for continuous deployment, upgrade, monitoring, operations. SCS is supported by the OSB Alliance non-profit org, participates in the European GAIA-X initiative and receives public funding from the German Ministry for Economy.

Before this I was running Cloud & Storage in SUSE and had a chief architect role in building up Deutsche Telekom's Open Telekom Cloud team.
I've been successful in making DT a vocal supporter of OpenStack since 2012. I was serving in the board of the OSF in 2018 and now again since 2020.

Before joining DT end of 2011 and starting to work with and on OpenStack, I was a long-time contributor to the Linux kernel, leading SUSE Labs and working with many great engineers, contributing to the success of Open Source.
