Speaker Details
David has been active in technology and open source software since 2004, when he began using open source software during his high school years. As his senior project, he built a Beowulf cluster to demonstrate the power of multi-threaded applications and prove usefulness of otherwise abandoned machines. This early interest in technology was seen through college and led to a Bachelor's degree in Network and Communications Management from DeVry University.
Since graduation, David has worked at a few large tech companies such as Classmates.com, Nintendo of America, and EMC Isilon. These opportunities provided a chance to experience different company requirements from open source technology and drew a very clear pattern: the cloud is the future. As such, David begun his endeavour in OpenStack, providing his python experience in projects like Akanda from Astara and the OpenStack Operators group.
For his free time, David enjoys playing with computers and technology. His hobbies vary from small electronics to python programming to computer/video games. He and his wife Rachel, daughter Tova, and son Boden also enjoy spending time outside playing disc golf.
