Policy-Driven Fault Management of NFV Eco System

Automatic fault management is critical service in NFV ecosystem. A policy-driven model is needed to manage the complex variety of fault scenarios.

Automating operations based on policies formulated by users has been achieved by Congress-Monasca-Tacker integration. It will ease the human monitoring and taking required actions by providing a combined solution, where the likes of multiple datasource drivers in Congress can provide all the required data we would need to achieve this Automation via Tacker. This way we can achieve monitoring, policy enforcement and action evaluation on VNFs with one solution.

A demo explaining how the integration of Congress-Monasca-Tacker will help us use data from other projects as well, like alarms from Monasca, server details from Nova, and much more to formulate the policy and execute any actions on NFV available to us from Openstack-Tacker. This presentation will help to learn the flow of integration between multiple projects and also the usage.

What can I expect to learn?

The whole session will provide detailed knowledge of integration done between multiple projects, mainly Congress, Tacker and Monasca to achieve automation of operations on NFV and implement various use cases involving fault-management.

Moreover, the presentation will help to learn the flow of integration between multiple projects.

After the presentation and demo, the user can expect to learn the following items:

  • Formulate custom policies.
  • Use data from different services like monasca, nova etc. while formulating policies
  • Automated execution of actions on target NFV functions after evaluation of policies.
