Real-time monitoring in complex systems is crucial for quick identification of potential problems and their root cause.
In this lab, you will learn how to efficiently monitor and analyze OpenStack cloud using Monasca and Vitrage. With the set of hands-on assignments, you will learn how to list and query metrics, alarms and notifications using the Monasca CLI. Then you will learn how to define Vitrage templates for effective root cause analysis.
By the end of this session, you will know how to personalize Vitrage and Monasca for your own system structure and needs.
Vitrage is the official OpenStack Root Cause Analysis service, designed to organize, visualize and analyze faults in your Cloud.
Monasca is the OpenStack Monitoring service, with support for real-time alerting. Thanks to our newest work its alerts can be seamlessly consumed by Vitrage.
No prior knowledge of Vitrage or Monasca is required. It is a practical session with live code examples, so please bring your laptops.
In this workshop, attendees will become familiar with the capabilities of Monasca and Vitrage.
For each of these projects, they will learn how to use its APIs and UI, and how to configure it for best results. In addition, they will practice configuring the Monasca datasource in Vitrage, in order to make the two projects work together.
