Advanced Fault Management with Vitrage and Mistral

Fault management in cloud systems is complex. With a mix of virtual & physical resources interacting, problems at one layer can have ripple effects throughout the system, especially when applications can be widely distributed over different physical entities. Achieving clarity of such connections and maintaining a highly available and scalable environment is critical for high-performance systems, such as in NFV.

In this session, we will present the powerful integration of Vitrage, the OpenStack root cause analysis service, and Mistral, the OpenStack workflow service. With the combination of these two projects, the cloud operator gets a clear and holistic view of the system with advanced root cause analysis, and is also able to take advantage of this knowledge and execute corrective actions in order to automate the fault management.

What can I expect to learn?

Attendees will learn how Vitrage can help the cloud operator better understand the status of the cloud by providing a holistic and complete view of the system, with advanced root cause analysis; and how Mistral can be used to apply corrective actions based on pre-defined workflows.

We will demonstrate the powerful integration of Vitrage and Mistral, and how it can be used to understand the faults of the cloud and take corrective actions in real-world scenarios.
