Ship it! Charting the way to smoother CI/CD with Kubernetes and OpenStack

Telecoms survive on reliability and thrive on innovation, we will show how new technologies and methods can combine these two seemingly polar opposite requirements to lead to real world competitive advantages: smoother development, operation, and deployment of new services to mission critical infrastructure.

In the tenant space, the concepts and practice of CI/CD are well understood and applied, but the transition to IaaS has always proven difficult. AT&T's cLCP architecture changes this paradigm by treating the entire service stack as discrete applications underpinned by a reliant Kubernetes foundation.

We will demonstrate the workflow that our developers and CI/CD teams have produced by installing an OpenStack-Helm multi-node environment with Jenkins including all the tools required to test, package, install, & upgrade OpenStack-powered by open source tools from AT&T Com-dev.

What can I expect to learn?

What people should expect to learn:

  • How ATT Comdev does CI/CD
  • Using Jenkins to deploy a multinode Kubernetes cluster on OpenStack
  • Using Jenkins to dynamically provision Virtual Machines
  • Using Helm charts to define the plugins and configurations required for Jenkins to interact with Openstack
  • Upgrading OpenStack versions with OpenStack-Helm with 0 downtime
