API SIG feedback and discussion session

The API Working Group recently became one of the first Special Interest Groups. One of the goals of making that change is to increase engagement with and involvement from all parts of the OpenStack community and move from a group that creates and maintains guidelines for API development to a home for discussion of all issues related to creating and consuming OpenStack APIs.

A large part of this change will involve working with maintainers of cloud SDKs to help ensure that OpenStack is smooth to consume.

In this session we hope to have an open discussion about the state of OpenStack APIs, issues with their use, and opportunities for improvement. Topics may include, but are not limited to: Strategies for reaching the many audiences and stakeholders of APIs

  • Effective use of the service catalog, service types and version discovery
  • Dealing with and understanding microversions
  • Resolving inconsistencies between different APIs and different clouds
