Over the past 2 years PaddyPower Betfair have migrated ~400 applications to our OpenStack cloud. We will cover the organisational, cultural and technical challenges, the good decisions the bad decisions.

Technically we will talk about the hundreds of different technologies, the challenges, real and perceived of moving them to a cloud. How every application is a unicorn to the developer who built and loves them and how we approached and solved this with OpenStack.

Culturally we want to share the joys and pains of working with 2000 developers across 4 sites. The difficulties and opportunities that occur when a major merger, forming a new major FTSE 100 entity happens in the middle of your journey to OpenStack. We will tell war stories, love stories, and hopefully inspire some reflection.

Organisationally we will talk about how espousing a fully automated OpenStack cloud impacted both those teams building it and using it. We will describe the business impact, and how we measured it.
