OpenStack Architecture and Deployment at Target

Target is one of the largest retailers in the US.  OpenStack usage has seen massive growth in support of Target's operations and is rapidly becoming the foundation of Target's compute infrastructure.  This talk will discuss the evolution of Target's OpenStack architecture and deployment process over three years of production use, including CI/CD, containerization, a move to immutable infrastructure, the use of ironic for deployment and reducing reliance on vendor solutions.

 

 


What can I expect to learn?

Attendees will learn about the challenges and benefits of OpenStack deployment in a large enterprise environment and some of the specific design and implementation choices that have been made by Target as the environment grew and evolved.
