Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is developing an OpenStack environment to support improved Research Data Management practices as well as support improved development of tools, and collaboration by our global scientific community of partners. The goal for early development it to get capabilities into the hands of our science partners early so we can identify needs and build a brand. The target is to unveil the ScAP prototype at LabTech 2017, using this as a forcing function for outreach and progress.
This talk will focus on lessons learned from initial development and test of ScAP. As new partners to the OpenStack community, I will discuss what we've learned, how what we are learning has shaped longer term plans, and how we see the role of OpenStack as part of US National Laboratory scientific infrastructure.
